Bulgarian raspberry wine, fermented from fruit

Fermented from fruit, not flavoured. The wine ferments entirely from fresh raspberries. No added water, no grape spirit, no preservatives, no colourings. That is what separates a true fruit wine from an aromatised grape base sold under a fruit name — the category most supermarket "raspberry wine" belongs to.

Hand-picked at ~800 m in the Rhodopes. The raspberries come from mountain plantings at roughly 800 metres in the Rhodope Mountains, near Asen's Fortress above Asenovgrad. Picking is by hand. Altitude is what keeps the acidity in the fruit, and the acidity is what keeps the wine dry rather than syrupy.

Dry to off-dry, not a dessert wine. Light ruby, with live fruit acidity and a clean finish. This is the single most common surprise for a first-time drinker: fruit wine has a reputation for sweetness that this range does not meet.

A blend that only Bulgaria could make. Raspberry & Mavrud marries Rhodope raspberry with Mavrud, Bulgaria's signature indigenous grape variety from the Thracian Lowlands. It is a genuine bridge between fruit wine and grape wine, and there is very little like it anywhere.

Recognised at national level. G. Filipoff holds a silver medal from Vinaria 2023, Bulgaria's national wine competition. The award is held by the brand, not by any single bottling.

100% Raspberry Wine is around 10.5% ABV. Serve it lightly chilled, 10–12 °C, as an aperitif, or alongside dark chocolate, soft cheeses and fruit desserts.

Raspberry & Mavrud is around 11.5% ABV and carries real tannic structure. Serve it at 14–16 °C with lamb, game, mature cheeses or mushroom dishes — it behaves like a red at the table, not like a dessert wine.
